Does Public Speaking Make You Nervous?

Hey Friends,

I got caught up last week and was not able to send out a newsletter - apologies.

I was at my cousin's wedding in Jacksonville, FL and it was hard to step away from the festivities to shoot out an email.

When I started this newsletter my goal was to provide weekly value and also insight into aligners but also my life.

I strongly believe in the power of sharing and transparency so I hope to do it as much as possible with you.

I am grateful for you being here and I hope this newsletter has not disappointed.

Something I am working on is drafting my speech for next week's event: Dentistry's Got Talent

It is a speaking competition in New Orleans and I am very excited to be able to have 7 mins to deliver my message in a Ted Talk style.

I am not nervous - I am excited. But I sure as hell know my heart is going to be RACING before I go on the stage LOL

I will be talking about how dentists and orthodontists can work together to treat more patients and improve their own lives while doing so. (something I am passionate about if you didn't know by now ;)

I believe having an abundance mindset can unlock so much potential in our field and I hope to share this message with as many people as possible!

There will be a link to stream the event - Register
HERE

Also if you watch and vote you can help me win!

There will be 49 other great speakers and I believe you will get CE credit as well.

Digital Smile Simulations:

Utilize digital smile simulation software to give potential clear aligner patients a visual preview of their post-treatment smile. This tool allows patients to see the potential outcomes, fostering confidence and aiding in the decision-making process.

Here's how you can implement this tip tomorrow:

  1. Invest in simulation software: Acquire digital smile simulation software designed for clear aligner treatments. Ensure it integrates seamlessly with your existing digital workflow.
  2. Offer simulations during consultations: Use the software during patient consultations to create real-time simulations. Input the patient's current dental data and demonstrate the expected outcomes of clear aligner treatment.
  3. Explain the benefits: Clearly communicate how digital smile simulations help patients visualize their future smile, understand treatment goals, and make informed decisions.
  4. Share the simulations: Provide patients with digital copies of their simulations for reference and discussion with family or friends.
  5. Collect feedback: Ask patients for feedback on their simulations and use their input to refine treatment plans.

By incorporating digital smile simulations, you enhance patient engagement, provide a clear understanding of treatment outcomes, and boost confidence in your clear aligner services, all of which can positively impact patient conversions and satisfaction.

Doing something new is hard. Not because you are bad at it. Not because you are incapable. It is hard because you do not know what you are doing yet. That sounds obvious, but most of us forget it. We expect confidence before competence. We want clarity before reps. We want certainty before starting. That is not how learning works. When you do not know how to do something, your brain looks for reasons to stop. This feels risky. What if I mess it up? What if I look stupid? What if I fail? So...

Most dentists think we need to do it all. We are prideful. We think we are the best. We assume everyone else should just figure it out. We are wrong. People do not need more operators. They need leadership. Leadership is not doing the work. Leadership is showing people what good looks like and guiding them there. You cannot expect a new hire to know what to do. You cannot expect them to know the difference between right and wrong. You have to onboard them so they understand what is required...

When you solve one problem, you create another. We see this all the time with doctors learning aligners. First, they want help with case selection. Then they want help with case acceptance. Then they want help with setup. Then delivery. Then refinements. Then finishing. That is not a bad thing. That is progress. The same thing happens with patients. You propose aligners to improve oral health. You solve the alignment problem. Now the patient notices things. The shape of their teeth. The...
