Is Traveling For Work Ideal?

Hey Friends,

This was the first "normal" week that I have had in awhile.

I have been traveling a decent amount lately - it has been a mix of work and personal trips.

Growing up I thought "man it would be so cool to travel for work, I can see different cities and be on the move!"

I really thought traveling for work was something luxurious. Yet it is quite the opposite.

These work trips for me are mainly conferences and conventions, the personal ones are mainly because it is summer time - however - it has been a lot of time at the airport and away from my bed lol.

Being away from home makes me appreciate the beauty of having a "haven"

Neha (my wife) was intentional with how she decorated and setup our apartment and at the time I had no idea what she was doing but now I get to enjoy the benefits of it.

Having a place where I can unwind and NOT think about the stressors of the world is a luxury in this day in age.

I am sure you can relate to some degree as having to go to the office comes with it's own world of stress.

It is good to have time built into your schedule where you can just .... be still.

No phone, no talking, no thinking, just being.

I started meditating daily about 2 years ago - and it has been LIFE CHANGING.

When I started I didn't think much of it - I thought I was doing it wrong and didn't think it was working.

But what I realized is it doesn't have an immediate impact - it has a lasting one. The calm and stillness that comes with meditating would actually "seep" into the rest of my life.

I realized this because if there was a day where I didn't meditate - I would be OFF. Little things would bug me, stress would get to me - there would be a clear difference in how my days went.

So all this being said - take some time for yourself today or tomorrow and try to be still. Appreciate the place you call home - and know that sometimes going to the same place for work is not a bad thing lol

Straight Talk

Do you want to start more aligner cases and elevate your practice's standard of care?
If so - you need to have a scanner and USE IT.

How To Implement Intraoral Scanning Technology:

Invest in intraoral scanning technology for your dental practice to enhance the clear aligner treatment process. Intraoral scanners provide accurate and detailed 3D digital impressions of patients' teeth, eliminating the need for traditional messy impressions. This improves patient experience, reduces chair time, and facilitates seamless communication with clear aligner manufacturers.

Here's how you can implement this tip tomorrow:

  1. Research and select an intraoral scanner: Look into reputable intraoral scanning devices available in the market. Choose a scanner that suits your practice's needs, budget, and integrates well with your existing digital workflow.
  2. Train your team: Provide comprehensive training to your dental team on how to use the intraoral scanner effectively. Ensure they understand the scanning process, positioning, and capturing high-quality digital impressions.
  3. Introduce the technology to patients: During consultations or routine check-ups, explain the benefits of intraoral scanning to patients. Highlight how it improves accuracy, comfort, and the overall treatment experience with clear aligners.
  4. Demonstrate the scanning process: Show patients the scanner and conduct a brief demonstration, allowing them to see the technology in action. This helps alleviate any concerns and instills confidence in the treatment process.
  5. Partner with clear aligner manufacturers: Collaborate with reputable clear aligner manufacturers that accept digital impressions. Ensure a smooth workflow for sending digital scans directly to the manufacturer for aligner fabrication.

By adopting intraoral scanning technology, you streamline the clear aligner treatment process, enhancing precision and efficiency. Patients will appreciate the comfortable experience and the advanced technology used in their treatment, making your dental practice stand out and attract more individuals seeking clear aligner services.

A patient recently paid more for treatment… and didn’t blame me for it. He came in with crowded teeth and an unbalanced bite. During the exam I pointed out a few cracks forming in his molars. Nothing catastrophic yet, but the bite was clearly putting stress on those teeth. I explained the bigger picture. If we balanced his bite with aligners, we could likely prevent those cracks from getting worse. If we did nothing, the chances of future fractures were high. He listened. Then he said he...

I recently met with the CEO of a DSO with over 100 locations. And I walked away with a few realizations that most dentists don’t think about. Not every DSO is bad. But every DSO is different. Dentists love to generalize. “DSOs are corporate.” “DSOs don’t care about doctors.” “DSOs only care about numbers.” Some do. Some don’t. The real issue isn’t whether DSOs are good or bad. It’s whether you’ve done the work to understand how a specific one operates. If you’re considering working for a DSO...

I just got back from the Chicago Midwinter Meeting. It’s one of the biggest dental conferences in the world. And three things became very clear to me. There are more people trying to help dentists than dentists trying to receive help. That’s not a bad thing. It means there are solutions. It means innovation exists. It means people care. But it also means something else. When the market gets crowded, quality gets diluted. A lot of people from outside dentistry see opportunity here. Dentists...
