Hey Friends, Neha and I have officially moved! Today is day 3 in the new home - we moved out of a high rise apartment and are now renting a home about 15 minutes outside of downtown Austin. This is quite a big change for me and I haven't had a chance to process the move at all because the last 3-4 days have been a whirlwind of packing - shuttling packed goods over to the new place - unpacking (on repeat...) So we did the move in phases because we wanted to minimize the chaos that ensues after movers pack your stuff for you. If you have never experienced this - basically what happens is the movers put your stuff in boxes - write something on them - then drop them off at the place you are moving to... Sounds helpful except for the fact that nobody actually unpacks everything on the first day. So when you need something like a phone charger or a pair of scissors a day or 2 later... you realize you have no idea where any of your stuff is so you start going through a bunch of boxes which then gets you sidetracked because 45 mins later you've unpacked that random box and forgot why you needed the scissors in the first place 🤣 Legit have no idea what we would do without him in this process! Now... we recently traded in our 2 door coupe for an suv... and everyone tells me HOW AMAZING SUVs are... I am still a fan of coupes BUT this week the SUV has been CLUTCH!!! I dropped those bad boy back seats down and we LOADED IT UP! Team SUV get's 1 point for this... and I'm sure it will get many more once baby is here in March lol This is where I WILL ADMIT I WAS WRONG! You see I LOVE it when people tell me something can't be done - then I go out and do it. It's my thing and it fuels me - not sure why but it has helped me accomplish some pretty wild things. (I will bring this up in therapy next week lol) People told me the coupe was impractical and I would need an SUV for sooooo many things. The thing is when we had the coupe our life did not entail endless trips to target and home depot lol. Times have changed now - at least for this move - and I will admit the SUV has been a lifesaver haha Straight TalkTeam involvement is crucial for the long-term success of clear aligner treatments in a dental practice. If you’re too busy to learn aligners — you’re too busy to grow. That used to be me. I’d come home exhausted. Telling myself I’d “figure it out later.” Later never came… until I carved out 30 minutes a week to focus. Fast forward six months — I had 50+ cases under my belt. Here’s how to make real progress in 30 minutes a week: Block 30 mins every Tuesday or Thursday (before the day starts or after lunch) Start by learning just one topic: case selection, scanning, or scripting Implement what...
When patients say no to aligners, it’s rarely about money. It’s about trust. Early on, I quoted fees and hoped they’d say yes. But once I started asking better questions and explaining why it mattered, things changed. That's when most of my consults ended with a yes. Try these two shifts to improve your acceptance rate: Ask better questions. Instead of “do you want to straighten your teeth?” ask: “Has anyone ever mentioned your teeth are in an unhealthy position?” Frame the benefits around...
Most docs try to get aligners going on their own. Then feel frustrated when the team doesn’t support it. I was there too. I tried to do everything myself — scanning, educating, managing trays. My assistant was confused, my front desk forgot follow-ups, and cases stalled. When I finally trained my team the right way, everything changed. Here’s how to get your team on board fast: Start with a 15-min huddle: Explain why aligners matter (not just for you — but for patients) Front desk = follow-up...
