Power of Delegation

Hey Friends,

I am reading Dan Martell's book - Buy Back Your Time and I am absolutely hooked.

He talks about how valuable your time is and how you can make the most of it by delegating certain tasks to other people.

Your time is worth a dollar amount.

You have an hourly rate and you calculate it by taking your income and dividing by 2,000 (hours).

That number is your hourly rate.

Take that number and divide it by 4

That is your buy back rate.

If you can pay someone that amount of money per hour or less than that to do a task - you should do it.

The first thing getting off your plate is usually emails and calendar management.

I am currently doing this with my assistant and I was nervous but also excited.

Giving up control is something I struggle with because I feel like nobody can do things as good as me.

Does that sound like you?

I bet you are doing that in your practice.

Running the show - wearing all the hats.

I get it - you probably got burned by someone when you handed them a task and they failed miserably.

Part of being a good leader is to give good direction and have systems and frameworks.

You can't just tell your office manager to do something new and expect them to do it to perfection.

You need to give some direction - have them do 80% of the work - then you come in at the end and check the final 10%.

I challenge you to think of time sucking tasks that are happening in the practice and look to see what you can start delegating so that you have more time to focus on other needle movers in the business.

I also did not do the book justice in my quick explanation above - if you are remotely interested in this type of stuff - go read the book here

This foundational step will help you create a precise treatment plan tailored to your patient's unique needs and set the stage for a positive treatment journey.

Begin with a thorough assessment of the patient's dental and orthodontic condition. This involves reviewing the patient's medical and dental history to identify any underlying conditions that may affect treatment.

Conduct a comprehensive clinical examination to assess oral health, including the alignment of teeth, bite, and any signs of periodontal disease. Obtain necessary imaging, such as panoramic and cephalometric x-rays, to evaluate bone structure, tooth positioning, and any underlying issues.

Take intraoral and extraoral photographs from multiple angles to document the patient's current condition and track progress over time. Capture precise impressions or use digital scanners to create 3D models of the patient's teeth, which is crucial for designing custom aligners that fit accurately.

Additionally, perform an occlusal analysis to identify any issues such as crossbites, open bites, or deep bites that need to be addressed in the treatment plan.

Finally, discuss with the patient their specific concerns and goals for treatment. Understanding their expectations helps in creating a treatment plan that aligns with their desired outcomes.

By conducting a thorough patient evaluation and gathering detailed records, you can create a precise and effective treatment plan for clear aligners, ensuring the best possible results for your patient.

Hey Friends, I’ve noticed how strong word of mouth is for dentists when we talk about services, materials, or courses. It’s often the first thing we rely on when making decisions. The same goes for your patients. Your patients trust personal recommendations far more than ads or promotions. So, if you’re offering aligners or any other service, encourage those happy patients to share their experience with friends, family, or even on social media. Word of mouth is one of the most powerful tools...

Hey Friends, Your time is expensive. Are you wasting it? If you're anything like me - you probably are. Look nobody is perfect and that's ok. Whenever I had time between patients I was usually finding a way to scroll on my phone trying to get a quick dopamine hit. Or maybe I was escaping from the chaos of the practice? Regardless - it wasn't the best use of my time. I had to actually TAKE TIME to MAKE TIME. I made time by being more EFFICIENT. Check out the video I made to see how I was able...

Hey Friends, Expanding services in your dental practice, such as offering aligners, comes with its set of challenges. One of the most significant hurdles can be internal resistance from your own team. Today, I want to share a story about how I helped a fellow dentist overcome this exact obstacle. The Challenge of Change Dr. Smith (name changed for privacy) was excited to introduce aligner services in his practice. He understood the benefits—both for his patients and his business. However, his...
