They need aligners—but they still say no. Here’s why.

Hey Friends,

You show them the scan.

You explain the benefits.

You tell them their bite will only get worse over time.

And they STILL don’t move forward.

Why?

Because logic doesn’t sell aligners—emotion does.

Most dentists try to sell aligners by talking about:

• Cosmetics

• “It’s a good investment for your smile”

But patients buy aligners for ONE reason: they don’t like how they feel about the health of their teeth.

Highlighting where they are at - and all the things that can go wrong OUTSIDE of the appearance of their teeth will help drive the message home.

More problems in dentistry only get more expensive the longer they wait to do something about it.

They don't know that.

You do.

So tell them.

🔥 Actionable Tip: Next time you scan a patient, show them the screen and ask: “What do you see?”

Let them talk.

When they point out crowding, respond with: “Would you like to improve that?”

Simple.

No pushing.

Just guiding them to their own decision.

Straight Talk

Every day, a new company pops up claiming they can “take ortho off your plate” with in-house solutions or a “virtual orthodontist.” Sounds great in theory, right? Less work, more cases, easy money. But before you sign up, ask yourself—will this actually work for you?

Here’s the truth: Every service has an ideal customer. If you or your doctors have little to no experience with aligners, you’re not the right fit for these services—yet. Because no matter how much they handle, you are still responsible for the patient’s care.

Yes, they can do the "work" you don’t want to do. But if you don’t understand what’s happening in the treatment plan, you’re flying blind. And when something goes wrong (because at some point, it will), you won’t have the confidence to troubleshoot.

This isn’t about capability—it’s about confidence. And confidence isn’t something you can outsource.

What you actually need is proper training and ongoing support to start cases with clarity and predictability. Once you’ve built that confidence, services that "take ortho off your plate" can become a great tool—because now, you are the fail-safe.

At the end of the day, you’re asking a human to wear plastic 22 hours a day. That introduces variables you can’t control. You need to be ready to adapt when things don’t go as planned.

Confidence isn’t optional. It’s the foundation of success with aligners.

When I first started teaching aligners, a lot of people asked me the same question... “Which brand do you use?” They wanted me to say one name. Invisalign. SureSmile. ClearCorrect. OrthoSnap. CandidPro. But the truth is, I do not care about the brand. What matters is the doctor. What matters is the patient. And what matters most is that the case gets started. Most dentists get stuck obsessing over which aligner company is better. They spend months debating marketing claims, lab fees, and...

Most dentists get stuck in idea overload. They write down every thought, attend CE courses, and collect pages of notes. But nothing actually changes in the practice. I know because I used to do the same thing. I would fill notebooks with “good ideas” and then let them sit. It felt exciting at first, but eventually it became overwhelming. What I learned is simple: ideas only matter if you execute on them. Here are 3 rules that helped me shift from hoarding ideas to creating results: 1. One...

I used to watch minor cracks and crowding “just to be safe.” I thought waiting meant I was being conservative. One patient came back six months later with a cracked molar. She asked me, “Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” That question stung. I realized “waiting” wasn’t protecting my patients — it was protecting my own fears. If you’re stuck, try this instead: Diagnose what you see clearly and early Explain risks of delaying treatment in simple language Give patients all the info so they can...
