Hey Friends, Hope you had a great week! This week I went to the American Academy of Clear Aligners convention this week in Vegas. It was really cool to be around fellow dentists who value aligners and were seeking out education around it. I also got to connect with a bunch of dentists from all around the country and share my story while hearing about theres. This week showed me how important COMMUNITY and CONNECTION is in our field. We are all for the most part "alone" in our practices. This weighs on us and is a big reason why dentists suffer from mental health issues. If you feel alone - reach out and connect. Use social media as an entry point to connection. If this is something you don't want to do then sign up for a conference or convention and meet people in person! If you want to meet up at a convention - I am going to be speaking at Dentistry's Got Talent in New Orleans. It is a dental convention and if it is something you want to go to and connect at - check it out here (use code: PATEL for 10% off) I waited too long in my career to start going to conventions. These are great places to meet even just 1 person who you may have a lot in common with and can start to call a friend! So before the convention I was working in the office this week and saw my friend who is in aligner therapy with me. I did a trial case with ClearCorrect and she is progressing nicely. The case is a simple relapse crowding case. I will share the results with you all once she is done with treatment. I will say setting up the case was not too bad - however getting the trays took awhile. They also do a 2 part shipping method so I had to wait for all of her trays to come in. Not sure why ClearCorrect does that since I give my patients all the trays at the beginning. Anyways - if you have any questions about anything feel free to respond to this email and I am happy to answer any questions! You’re losing money by paying your associates to do Clear Aligners.I see a lot of practices making this mistake. Here’s why it’s costing you—and how to fix it. 👇🏽When I first saw a practice using the Production Frontload model for paying associates, it seemed logical:• Associate starts the case, earns 30% of production.• Lab bill? Deducted at 30%.• Paid out just like restorative work.Sounds simple, right? It works beautifully when patients pay in full upfront. But let’s be real—most patients...
Hey Friends, AI is everywhere in dentistry right now. Some people think it’ll replace doctors. Others think it’s just hype. The truth? It’s a tool. And like any tool, it’s only useful if it actually helps you make more money or improve patient outcomes. Here’s where AI can actually make a difference in your practice: • Treatment planning. Faster, more predictable setups for aligner cases. YOU still need to know what is going on with the movements but it can speed up the process and remove a...
Hey Friends, IPR is one of the most misunderstood parts of clear aligner treatment. Most dentists do it too early, too late, or in too many places. The right approach? • Do less IPR in more strategic locations instead of spreading it everywhere. • Stage the IPR— this allows you to do the IPR at the most favorable position + time. • Group IPR around the canines instead of hitting every contact. 🔥 Actionable Tip: Next time you’re setting up a case, move small IPR amounts to fewer locations....
